Hundreds of candidates for the post of 'daroga' (sub-inspectors) in Patna on Monday staged a demonstration on Dak Bungalow crossing and Hartali Chowk demanding reinstatement of their applications that were earlier disqualified by the state government on technical grounds.

The protestors, chanting anti-government slogans, called the administration's decision to disqualify some candidates because they had apply for the job from multiple locations – a violation of the rules.

"The candidates had already completed all the formalities required for the selection including participating in the physical tests and now they are telling us that we will not be considered for the job," said the agitated applicants.

"If the government fails to withdraw its decision, we will be forced to intensify our stir," they said.
