Ram Vilas Paswan's Mother Passes Away

Patna: Oct. 18, 2007

Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) president and Union Minister Ram Vilas Paswan's mother Sia Devi, after a prolonged illness, passed away at the minister's official residence at 12 Janpath in New Delhi on Thursday morning.

She was 95.

The body of Sia Devi was brought to Patna by Paswan and his brothers Ramchandra Paswan and Pashupati Kumar Paras late Thursday evening.

Mrs. Devi would be given a funeral as per the Kabirpanthi rituals next to her husband Jamundas's tomb at Shaharbanni in Khagaria district.

Paswan's both parents were practicing Kabirpanthis, family members said.

Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, in his condolence on Paswan's personal loss, said Mrs. Devi was a devout religious woman who instilled high morals in all her children.

Besides three sons, Mrs. Devi leaves behind a daughter as well.
