Swift mob justice continues in Bihar as an alleged bicycle thief, after being caught by a crowd under Buddha Colony police station in Patna on Monday, was given a brutal thrashing before being dragged to the police station where he was taken into custody.

The incident occurred near Mandiri when Premchandra Tubeed, a police constable, after parking his bike to drink a cup of tea from a nearby tea stall, saw a man running away with his bike.

A chase ensued and soon the man, who was identified as Shiv Kumar, a.k.a. Shibu, was caught and meted out the mob justice that is becoming more and more ubiquitous in the state in last few months.

Shibu, who was said to be drunk at the time he allegedly tried to steal the bicycle, was dragged to the police station where he denied the theft charges despite several eyewitnesses at the crime scene.

The police is investigating the case.
