Lovely Anand Seeks Justice from the Home Dept.
Patna: Oct. 23, 2007
Former MP and a convict in the murder of former Gopalganj District Magistrate G. Krishnaiah, Lovely Anand, in a memo to the Union Home Minister Shivraj Patil on Tuesday, appealed for a fresh investigation into the case by an independent agency while demanding security for her and her husband Anand Mohan, also a convict in the same case.
"The entire case against us is the result of a very elaborate political conspiracy hatched against me and my husband. Witnesses against us had been bought and evidences had been suppressed. In the name of speedy trial, the Bihar government is picking and choosing cases against its political opponents and only an independent investigation could bring out the truth," Lovely Anand who is out on bail after a court in Patna awarded her life imprisonment, said.
Demanding to know why the state chose to initiate Gopalganj DM murder case and ignored other cases like those involving Jamui SP K. C. Surendra Babu, Chhotan Shukla, Hemant Shahi, former MP Rajesh Kumar and Congress leader Rajo Singh, Lovely Anand said all the evidences that proved her and her husband's innocence were conveniently either lost or not brought up during the entire trial process.
