Government Harassing Rally Delegates; Says RJD Leader

Patna: Oct. 26, 2007

Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader and former minister Iliyas Hussain on Friday accused the Nitish government of attempting to harass rally-goers who have been arriving in Patna in hordes to attend the October 28 'Chetawani Rally' organized by the RJD to stir up opposition against the 2-year old NDA government in Bihar.

"Those who are arriving in Patna by road are being stopped by the state police on the pretense of document checking and are being harassed to influence the rally. Their vehicles are being seized but such cheap tricks are not going to work because this rally is like a storm and no one has the power to slow it down," Hussain said.

"Our men have been instructed to be aware of any nefarious design of the NDA government that would do anything to disrupt this rally or to make it unsuccessful. Our volunteer force, however, would be manning each and every corner of the city and ensure delegates are not harassed in any way," the RJD leader who earlier visited Gandhi Maidan with Lalu Prasad Yadav, said.
