Supporters of Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), on Saturday, started to arrive in Patna in large numbers to attend the anti-Nitish government rally in Gandhi Maidan on Sunday as party president and Railway Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav paid a last minute visit to the rally venue to ensure nothing was left to chance and no one was prevented from participating in the rally.
The public spectacle of the rally-goers began with the arrival of Hatia-Patna special rally train from Jharkhand, courtesy the Railway Minister, as dozens of mask-wearing Adivasis, dancing and playing drums, got off the train and marched to the designated guest house all ready to take out their show at the rally in Gandhi Maidan Sunday.
Despite some lukewarm warnings by the RJD chief himself, 'launda nautch', a personal favorite of Yadav, were witnessed by the commuters at many places.
Needless to say, most major roads in the state capital witnessed major traffic problems particularly at the railway station where no vehicles, including taxis and rickshaws, were allowed to enter causing much inconvenience to the ordinary train passengers who had to walk quite a bit with their luggage to catch a ride to their destinations.
The district administration has made elaborate arrangement to manage traffic in Patna on Sunday where, as per the RJD claims, more than 30 lakh people will gather at Gandhi Maidan to hear Yadav and his ministers speak against the Nitish government.
