BJP, LJP Call the RJD Rally is 'Super Flop'

Patna: Oct. 28, 2007

Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) and Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) leaders in Bihar, following the conclusion of Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) sponsored 'Chetawani Rally' in Patna on Sunday, described it as 'super flop' and an indication of the political demise of Lalu dominance in the state.

BJP state president Radha Mohan Singh, while pooh-poohing the claims of 30 lakh people in the rally as a grand joke, said that most rally-attendees were paid to come to Patna but neither the Muslims cared to participate in it nor the backwards' participation was anything to boast about.

"No wonder that the rally ended much before the scheduled time of 5:00 pm," Singh said.

BJP state spokesperson Vinod Narain Jha also underplayed the success of rally.

"Most people were interested in sightseeing than listening to the same old rhetoric by Lalu Prasad Yadav and his henchmen. The crowd started to thin out after the first hour and then these people were seen all over the city but at the Gandhi Maidan," said Jha.

Janata Dal (U) national spokesperson Shivanand Tiwari also declared the rally as a 'mega flop'.

"After all that money and blatant abuse of Indian Railways, if this is what Lalu had to show for then he should take it as a major blow to his party," Tiwari said.

"This rally signals the beginning of the end of Lalu in Bihar for good," he said.

Building Construction Minister Monazir Hasan and Minority Welfare Minister Manzar Alam also echoed similar sentiments saying the rally only confirmed the popularity of the Nitish government.

RJD's ally at the UPA government at the Center, Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) also described the 'Chetawani Rally' as a total dud.

Party's national vice president Dr. Ranjan Prasad Yadav said it was more of a cultural show of Jharkhand artists than a 'warning' for the Bihar government. "Prime Minister Manmohan Singh is the one who should be 'warned' by this rally that Lalu Prasad Yadav's days are over and he is no more the 'messiah of the poor' that he once used to be," Dr. Yadav said.

"After an expenditure of Rs. 50 crore and premature conclusion of the so-called rally, Lalu should now learn that RJD is finished in Bihar once and for all," he further said.
