LJP Demands Death Penalty for Gujarat CM Narendra Modi

Photo by Shashi UttamLok Janshakti Party (LJP) and Dalit Sena activists, at the Income Tax roundabout in Patna on Monday, staged a dharna demanding death penalty for Gujarat Chief Minister and Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Narendra Modi for his alleged involvement in the 2002 riot.

"The latest Tehelka expose has established that Modi conspired to initiate riots in Gujarat that led to the death of thousands of innocent people. He should be tried for murder and sent to the gallows for his crime," said the LJP state general secretary Vishnu Paswan.

LJP national secretary Satyanand Sharma said the party president Ram Vilas Paswan had resigned from the NDA ministry at the Center on this issue and with the new reports on the Gujarat riots, it was time Modi was brought to justice and given death penalty.

The protestors also demanded check on crime in Bihar saying the NDA government in the state had failed to keep its promises that it had made during the last Assembly elections.
