LJP Now Demands Railway Facilities for its Rally
Patna: Oct. 30, 2007
Taking a cue from the Rashtriya Janata Dal's recently concluded 'Chetawani Rally', the Lok Janshakti Party (LJP), which is also planning a rally in Patna on November 28 against the Nitish-led NDA government in Bihar, has demanded the use of Indian Railways to ferry supporters from other parts of the state creating a dilemma for the RJD chief and Railway Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav.
Sources said the LJP leaders have decided to ask the Railway Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav to make railway services available to the LJP on the same terms, including tickets at heavily-discounted prices, and special trains for the sole purpose of transporting delegates from platform numbers 1, 2, and 3 – just as the RJD did during its rally last Sunday.
"This is going to be a huge political issue if our demands are not be the RJD chief and Railway Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav," party spokesperson Sanjay Singh said in Patna on Tuesday.
"The Indian Railways is not the private property of Lalu or any other politician. If the Railway Minister indulges in a double standard, we will not hesitate in taking up the issue in a court of law," Singh said.
