Naxals in Begusarai Blow up Train Tracks
Patna: Oct. 30, 2007
Maoist ultras, during their one day 'India Bandh' on Tuesday, used explosives to blow up a railway track near Tilrath railway station in Begusarai district disrupting the railway traffic for some time.
Bombs planted at two more nearby stations fortunately failed to go off, authorities said.
Jagat Pal, the chief security officer of the East-Central Railways, fired Tilrath station master Santosh Kumar and the gate man for failing to inform the authorities of the blast on time and for allowing some trains to cross despite dangerous track conditions.
As reported, Naxal extremists planted several cane bombs at Tilrath, Bachhwara, and Barauni railway stations. While the bombs failed to go off at Bachhwara and Barauni, the explosion caused extensive damage on tracks at Tilrath.
The ultras also fired three round in the air and beat up the gate man at Bachhwara outer signal, reports said.
More than a dozen trains were affected due to the blast.
Attempts were being made to apprehend the ultras, the police said.
