FIRs against RJD Leaders for using Loudspeakers
Patna: Oct. 31, 2007
The police in Patna on Wednesday lodged FIRs against several Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) operatives for using loudspeakers against the city ordinance till late night on October 27 on the eve of RJD's 'Chetawani Rally' in Patna.
An FIR was lodged with the Sachivalaya police station against the RJD legislator Nawal Kishore Yadav while another case was filed with the Gardanibagh police station where loud music played on loudspeaker well beyond the 10:00 pm limit earlier imposed by the Patna High Court.
More complaints are expected to be filed against several RJD leaders for playing music on loudspeakers past the 10:00 pm curfew at Gandhi Maidan, Sanjay Gandhi Stadium in Gardanibagh, and some other places, Home Secretary Afzal Amanullah said.
RJD national spokesperson Shyam Rajak, while denying the knowledge of FIRs lodged against some party leaders, said the loudspeakers were used only after obtaining prior permission from the District Magistrate's office.
"If true, this is yet another example of the Nitish government acting out of political vendetta," said Rajak.
