Lalu Exposed in the Eyes of the Muslims, Says Nitish
Patna: Oct. 31, 2007
Reacting to the Railway Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav's drum beat to give death to the Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi for his alleged involvement in the Gujarat riots, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, on Wednesday, advised Yadav to forget about Gujarat and talk about the Bhagalpur riots that left 116 persons dead, mostly from the Muslim community.
"Let Yadav talk about Bhagalpur riots. That would expose him as to how secular he is," Kumar said at a press conference in Patna.
"The Railway Minister should explain to the minority community what stopped him from bringing the Bhagalpur riot culprits to justice during his 15 years of rule in Bihar. He should clarify how those responsible for the riots were protected and rewarded by the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leadership and why no compensation was paid to any of the riot victims," the Chief Minister said.
Kumar said the RJD chief was totally exposed in front of the minorities who constituted a major block in his so-called Muslim-Yadav vote bank.
"If this trend continues, very soon Yadav will lose all respects in the eyes of the Muslims," he said.
Talking about the RJD-sponsored 'Chetawani Rally', the Chief Minister said while no one had any objection on the rally itself, the fact that Lalu abused his power to use railway services for his own political gains was despicable and blatant abuse of one's ministerial power.
