Air Arabia Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Patna
Patna: Sept. 5, 2007
An Air Arabia flight from Sharjah to Katmandu on Wednesday had to make an emergency landing at Patna's Jai Prakash Narain Airport due to inclement weather in Katmandu and low fuel in the airplane.
As reported, Flight 537 from Sharjah, after hovering above the Katmandu Airport for several minutes due to bad weather, had to be diverted to the nearest international airport, in this case, Patna Airport, for fueling.
At Patna Airport, authorities rushed to prepare for the landing as the Air Arabia Airbus 320 carrying 160 passengers and a set of crew, touched down the tarmac at 1:42 pm without any incident.
After refueling and other minor checkups, the plane took off for Katmandu at around 4:00 pm.
Passengers, however, had to remain inside the aircraft for the entire 2 hours and 18 minutes due to international laws and airport protocols, Atul Dixit, the Patna Airport General Manager said.
