Police Recovers Two Abducted Boys

Patna: Sept. 8, 2007

The police in Patna under Gandhi Maidan police station on early Saturday morning, found the 13-year old St. Michael's student who was reported kidnapped on Friday under Digha police station in Patna, officials said.

Rishabh Matthew who was found near Gandhi Maidan at around 2:00 am told the police he was abducted by a man in beard outside his school. He was shoved into a waiting car with two other men in it and taken to a location near Gandhi Maidan from where he managed to escape.

The police, however, is having hard time believing his story which, according to them, has already changed a few times.

"It appears Rishabh himself faked his kidnapping to earn sympathies of his family members who were putting pressure on him to do better in his school," officials said.

In yet another incident, the Patna police recovered a six year old son of a Bihar Military Police constable who was reported kidnapped on Saturday evening.

Mrityunjay Kumar, nicknamed Chhotu, and son of Krishna Nand, was abducted by a relative of another BMP constable for a ransom of Rs. 3 lakh, the police said.

The police was able to crack the case quickly by tracing the ransom call made from a mobile phone, Sachivalaya DSP Sridhar Mandal said.

The police arrested Pankaj Kumar and recovered Chhotu from a house in AG Colony where he had been kept hostage, he said.
