In-laws of Missing Woman Named Suspects in the Case
Patna: Sept. 8, 2007
The mother of Rani Archana Singh, the woman who disappeared from a running train in North Bihar on August 14, has lodged a case against the in-laws including the husband, mother and father in-law, husband's three brothers and two sisters, on suspicion of killing her daughter and attempting to hide the evidences in the case.
The case was filed with the Gandhi Maidan police station in Patna, officials said.
On Saturday, a police raid team arrived at the house of Archana's in-laws in Lalji Tola only to find it locked from outside.
Neighbors said the family left a few days ago without letting anyone know about their destination.
As reported before, Archana, the daughter of a Banka Additional District and Sessions Judge Subhash Chandra Prasad, went missing from the New Jalpaiguri-Patna Capital Express on the night of August 14 as the couple, who got married last April, returned from Darjeeling after a delayed honeymoon.
Despite an extensive search of the area along the railroad track, the police had failed to find any trace of the woman.
Archana's husband Rajiv Singh who remains a key suspect in the disappearance of his wife, later announced a reward of Rs. 1 lakh to anyone who would find or provide a clue in the case.
