Businessman Robbed, Criminals Get Away with Rs. 4.8 Lakh

Patna: Sept. 10, 2007

Armed criminals under Buddha Colony police station in Patna on Monday, making a complete mockery of the law and order situation in the state capital, robbed a builder in broad daylight and got away with Rs. 4.8 lakh in cash.

The incident occurred near Nageshwar Colony when Anjani Kumar Singh, a Kankarbagh resident, was returning from the State Bank of India, Raja Bazaar branch, after withdrawing Rs. 4.8 lakh for business purpose.

Singh was accompanied by his company staff Sanjay Kumar who was sitting on the back of the motorcycle while clutching on to the bag containing cash. When they reached Nageshwar Colony, suddenly two men on a motorcycle coming from behind, pulled a pistol and ordered them to hand over the bag containing cash to them.

Meanwhile, four more criminals on two motorcycles joined their partners in crime and ambushed Singh and Kumar forcing him to give up his money bag on pistol points before making away with the loot.

An FIR has been lodged with the Buddha Colony police station.

Attempts are being made to nab the robbers.

Incidentally, this is the fourth incident of robberies on Patna streets in less than 15 hours. The police is yet to catch a single robber in any incident.
