Jha's Successor Promises to Continue Reforms
Patna: Sept. 10, 2007
Anjani Kumar Singh, the man entrusted to fill in the shoes of late Madan Mohan Jha, the principal secretary of the Human Resources and Development department, on Monday said he would continue the development works in the Education department initiated by his predecessor while introducing some new ideas that he has in his mind since his name was approved by the Chief Minister.
Singh, before leaving for Japan on Monday, while admitting it would be extremely difficult for anyone to live up to the standard set by Jha, said he would review several schemes already in progress and introduce new ones as needed upon his return to Patna on September 16.
Appointments and training of teachers in Bihar schools, implementation of mid-day meal, uniform for girls students, and bicycles for students were many of the schemes introduced by Jha that he would not change, Singh said.
Meanwhile, the Human Resources and Development department on Monday held a special congregation at the New Secretariat's Education Department meeting hall in honor of Jha.
Education Minister Brishan Patel and a number of educationists paid moving tributes to Jha who died at the young age of 53 last Friday following a brief illness.
