More Twist in Missing Woman Case
Patna: Sept. 10, 2007
The case of the missing woman from a running train took a new turn on Monday when the brother of Rani Archana Singh, on Monday, filed an FIR with the Gandhi Maidan police station accusing the husband of Rani, of making threats on his life.
Ravi Shankar, the brother of Rani who went missing from the train while returning from Darjeeling on August 14, told the police that Rajiv Singh, the husband of Rani, threatened to kill him if the case against him and his family members were not withdrawn at once.
"He told me that they had already killed Archana and will not hesitate in killing me or my family members if we did not withdraw the case against them," Ravi Shankar told the police.
As reported before, Rani Archana Singh, the daughter of a Banka Additional District and Sessions Judge Subhash Chandra Prasad, went missing from the New Jalpaiguri-Patna Capital Express on the night of August 14 as the couple, who got married last April, returned from Darjeeling following a delayed honeymoon.
The victim's husband later announced a reward of Rs. 1 lakh to anyone who would find his wife or provide a clue in the case but since then the entire family is said to have gone in hiding.
A few days ago, Rani's family filed an FIR against her husband and in-laws naming them as the key suspects in the case.
