Hundreds of thousands of Muslims in Patna on Friday observed the first 'jumma' of the Ramjan by offering namaaz at various mosques in the state capital including the old Jama Masjid at Patna Junction where people started to gather from early morning.

With the new moon observed on Thursday night, the atmosphere in all predominantly Muslim areas like Sabzi Bagh, Ashok Rajpath, Patna City, Station Road, and Phulwarisharif was that of festivity and joy as adults and children alike marched to the nearest mosque to offer prayers.

Security throughout the city was tight to avoid trouble of any sort. Law enforcement officials were seen plying throughout the city in police vehicles.

Later in the evening, the devotees broke the Roza and ended their day with sumptuous meal shared with family members and other relatives.
