Students of J. D. Women's College in Patna on Friday formed a human chain to mark the World Ozone Day and appealed to all to protect and plant trees. The event was sponsored by the Botany department of the college under the 'Green Our Earth' program.

College Principal Dr. Asha Singh, in her inaugural speech, appealed to everyone to protect the ozone layer of the earth's atmosphere by participating in good practices including planting more trees and a pollution-free environment.

Chiranjeevi Kumar, the chairperson of Tarumitra, a voluntary group dedicated to the cause of environment, was the special guest at the function.

"World Ozone Day is like the birthday for trees and animals on the birth and that's how this day should be treated," Kumar said while exhorting the students to plant more trees in their surroundings.
