Disgruntled Taslimuddin Resigns from Party Post
Patna: Sept. 17, 2007
Central Minister and Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) national vice president Mohammed Taslimuddin, on Monday, frustrated with the party's way of functioning, resigned from his party post causing a setback for the RJD that is currently holding a national meeting of the party workers in New Delhi.
As reported, Taslimuddin, the Agriculture, Consumer Affairs minister in the Congress-led UPA government, sent out his resignation letter from his party post to RJD president and Railway Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav on Saturday.
Though the content of the letter is not made public, Taslimuddin, who remained absent from the meeting, is believed to have shown his displeasure the way Yadav and his cronies were running the party. For this reason, he also refrained from attending the recently concluded national convention in Sarnath and the workers meet in Rajgir.
Meanwhile, sources said attempts were being made to placate the sulking minister. RJD chief, who is yet to accept his resignation, is said to meet with Taslimuddin on Wednesday in the hope of getting him to change his mind.
