Government Blames RJD, Congress for Bihar Woes
Patna: Sept. 19, 2007
State Energy Minister Vijendra Prasad Yadav, at a press conference in Patna on Wednesday blasted the former RJD government in the state and the UPA government at the Center for failing to invest in building basic infrastructure in Bihar leading to widespread public protests and dissatisfaction.
"The RJD-Congress unholy alliance in Bihar has left the state with absolutely nothing. They did not plan for the future and did not do anything that could be seen as an improvement over the obsolete infrastructural establishment put in place decades ago," Yadav said adding the Nitish government was now paying price in terms of public anger and frustration.
The minister further blamed the Central government for continuing to give step-motherly treatment to Bihar by not making available even one megawatt of power despite repeated requests by the state government.
"It is Bihar's misfortune that it has to depend on the Central government for its energy needs and it is the gift of the RJD-Congress that we have not a single power house capable of producing enough energy to cover the entire state," he said.
