Chinese Delegation Impressed by Patna Museum
Patna: Sept. 21, 2007
A 13-member Chinese delegation, led by the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) Vice-Chairman Wang Zhongyu, arrived in Patna on Friday for a two-day visit of the Buddhist circuits in the state.
The visitors were visibly pleased by their visit to the historical Patna Museum where they saw the remains of Lord Buddha and other relics of the Buddha era including the statue of the Yakshini that they found to be 'most attractive'.
"The fact that Patna Museum is the house of Buddha's remains and other artifacts from the age of the Enlightened One, it makes this museum very special from other museums in the world," Zhongyu said.
The delegation then left for Bodh Gaya to visit Mahabodhi Temple. On Saturday, it would visit other areas in the Buddhist circuit including Rajgir.
Additional Director Sahdeo Kumar and museum curator Parshuram Pandey were at hand to show the visitors around the museum.
