Mudslinging between Tiwari, Rajak Continues

Patna: Sept. 21, 2007

Janata Dal (U) national secretary Shivanand Tiwari, while talking to reporters on Friday, said the Railway Minister and the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief Lalu Prasad Yadav was fast running out of luck and was feeling the noose tightening with the High Court giving its nod to reopen the Disproportionate Asset cases against him and his wife.

"The fact that a Jharkhand court has also summoned Yadav in the ongoing trial related to the fodder scam of the '90s has increased the Railway Minister's headaches manifold," Tiwari continued his diatribe against the former Chief Minister of Bihar who has been accused of making billions of rupees in the fodder scam and many of its consequential cases.

"People of Bihar had given immense power to Yadav and had put their trust in him to bring economic prosperity in the state but he was too busy robbing the state for fifteen long years. It's just a matter of time before the long arms of the law catches up with him and brings him to justice," the JD-U leader said.

Not to be cowed down by Tiwar's tirades, RJD surrogate and party national secretary Shyam Rajak shot back at the JD-U leaders saying Tiwari was spreading lies based on statements of someone who has been convicted by the court in ten different cases.

"The fact of the matter is, the JD-U is getting nervous about the growing popularity of the RJD in Bihar. Besides, witnesses in the fodder scam have said that both Nitish Kumar and Tiwari received between Rs. 1 crore and 4 crore in the fodder scam," Rajak said.

"When Tiwari walked out of Samata Party and joined the RJD, he had said that Nitish Kumar had received crores in the fodder scam and when the CBI was investigating Yadav, it was Tiwari who was crying his heart out insisting the RJD chief was innocent. Now he has changed his entire tune to confuse the public," the RJD spokesperson said.
