Nine Cops Suspended in Court Bombing Case

Patna: Sept. 23, 2007

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) of Kundan Krishnan, on Saturday, suspended nine police officials on charges of dereliction of duty in the wake of last Thursday attack at Patna Civil Court that left one under-trial prisoner dead and three others, including two lawyers, injured.

"These officers were on duty at the court when the criminals exploded several bombs. However, they failed to prevent the crime from being committed and also failed to apprehend the fleeing criminals," Krishnan said on Sunday.

Meanwhile, security at Patna Civil Court remained tight on Sunday with the entire premises looking like an army barrack.

Over half-a-dozen armed policemen guarded both entrances of the court to prevent any unauthorized person from entering the premises.
