Heavy rain for last two days in Patna has once again turned the entire city into a huge floating landfill bringing back all the miseries associated with it including stalled vehicles and overflowing manholes.

Areas like Kankarbagh, Kadam Kuan, New Area, Gardanibagh, Dariyapur, Lohanipur, Rajendra Nagar, Salimpur Ahra, Chiraiyantand Bridge, Bahadurpur, Jakkanpur and many other areas were worst hit with water flowing at knee level.

In a testament of the failure of Patna Municipal Corporation (PMC), garbage were seen flowing everywhere with no sign of relief in any area.

Several two-wheelers and four-wheelers were seen stalled in the rain water.

Situation elsewhere was not any better. Altogether a dozen deaths were reported from Samastipur, Darbhanga, and Muzaffarpur districts where heavy rain took its toll on both human lives and major crops causing damage worth several lakh rupees.

Schools were ordered closed for the entire week in Patna and other hard-hit areas.
