Patna: Sept. 27, 2007

RJD protest. Photo by Shashi UttamRashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) activists in Patna on Thursday staged a rally to protest against the state's poor power situation and burnt Chief Minister Nitish Kumar's effigy while demanding his resignation and imposition of President's Rule in Bihar.

Leading the rally from Ashok Rajpath, RJD leader Khurshid Alam Siddiqui arrived at Kargil Chowk where the Lalu supporters burnt the effigy of the Chief Minister.

"People of Patna are going through unprecedented power cuts which are also causing acute shortage of drinking water in the state capital. For this, no one but the Chief Minister is responsible and he should apologize to the voters for making false promises and resign from his post at once," Siddiqui said.

"This government has failed on every front and if the power situation is not sorted out soon, the RJD would be forced to intensify its agitation against the NDA government," he said.
