World Tourism Day Celebrated

Road Construction and Tourism Minister Nand Kishore Yadav, while inaugurating the first ever Gol Ghar Drama Festival in Patna on Thursday to mark the World Tourism Day, said the administration was preparing to launch a dazzling light and sound show at Gol Ghar that would definitely become one of the top attractions in the city.
"The Bihar government is busy implementing a number of programs to promote tourism in the state including developing the Buddhist circuit, Jain circuit, Ramayan circuit, and Gandhi circuit," Yadav said.
"Each year the government would give Rs. 5,000 to government schools to take the children on excursion trips that would have some very positive effects on the students," the minister said.
Meanwhile, hand-picked students from the Institute of Hotel Management and Catering in Hajipur, gave a warm welcome to tourists arriving at Jai Prakash International Airport in Patna by applying the customary 'tika' on their foreheads and handing over colorful bouquets.
Foreign visitors were also given CDs of tourism in India and guides were made available to those who needed it.
The tourism department also hosted a painting competition in which first, second, and third prizes were given to Rupali Rupam, Mohit Kumar, and Annpurna Singh respectively.
