Lalu Calls for Anti-Nitish Rally
Patna: Sept. 29, 2007
Railway Minister and Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) president Lalu Prasad Yadav, at a party meet to declare war on the Nitish-led NDA government in Bihar, on Saturday, appealed to all of his supporters to come join him at the so-called 'Chetawani Rally' scheduled for October 28 in Patna and launch an all-out assault on 'a failed government'.
"We don't have to wait five years to see the devastation of Bihar. This rally is intended to serve as a warning to the Chief Minister Nitish Kumar who is blinded by power and has become arrogant since acquiring power two years ago," Yadav, who is often accused of plundering and destroying Bihar during his 15-year of rule in the state, thundered.
"You take trains, planes, cars, motorcycles, bicycles, horse-buggy, or whatever but be sure to come to Patna on October 28 to make this rally a huge success," the Railway Minister said.
"Under the NDA rule, innocent protestors are brutalized by the police on a daily basis; bystanders are lynched by mobs, kidnapping is at an all time high, and the bureaucracy has reached a new height where corrupt officials are victimizing unsuspecting citizens on a daily basis," Yadav said adding all this will come to an end following the next state Assembly elections.
Ram Kripal Yadav, Raghuvansh Prasad Singh, Abdul Bari Siddiqui, Shankar Prasad Tekriwal, Shakuni Chowdhary, and Raghunath Jha were some of the prominent RJD leaders who were present at the meeting held at Yadav's Patna residence.
