Girish Kumar Sanghi, the national president of the All India Vaishya Samaj, during its mega rally at Patna's Gandhi Maidan on Sunday, appealed to all members of the Vaishya community to remain united and concentrate on education to strengthen the organization in the long run.
"We must empower each and every Vaishya by continuing to promote education in the community. I urge them to take full advantage of bank loans and government schemes to make the organization strong." Sanghi said.
He also pledged to donate Rs. 2 crore from the organization's fund to build a hostel in Patna for deserving students.
Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi who inaugurated the rally said that it was for the first time in Bihar's history that a member of the Vaishya community was given the post of Deputy Chief Minister in the state.
He also hinted on inclusion of a member of the Vaishya community in the upcoming expansion of the Nitish cabinet in Bihar.
"Under the NDA government in Bihar, not a single businessman had left for other state," Modi said adding that it was the direct result of the improved law and order situation under the Nitish administration in Bihar.
Several leaders cutting across party line attended the rally prominent among them Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader and Union Minister Premchand Gupta, former Minister Shankar Prasad Tekriwal, Vijendra Chowhary, and Rama Devi.
