CM Honors Fallen Soldiers; War Veterans

Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, while attending a function in memory of fallen soldiers from Bihar, at Khajpura Shiv Temple premises on Wednesday, honored ten retired soldiers and 15 widows of soldiers by describing their sacrifices as 'the ultimate sacrifice for the nation' while also distributing the symbolic shawls to them.
Widows of martyrs Captain Ramesh Singh, Jagdish Singh, Raman Bihari Prasad, Mahendra Singh, Shibu Mistry, Kailash Singh, Sahveer Singh, Welham Minj, Vasudevi Prasad, Santara Prasad, and Ganga Saran took the award on behalf of their martyr husbands.
The Chief Minister also honored war veterans Yugeshwar Thakur, Devlal Singh, Tejnarayan Yadav, Janardan Giri, Sahdeo Prasad, Vipatu Ram, Nageshwar Singh and Jagdish Singh for their bravery in the war fields.
Praising his government for maintaining communal peace in the state since coming into power two-and-a-half years ago, Kumar directed senior state officials to develop Albert Ekka building in Patna for the benefit of soldiers from Bihar.
Ekka, born in Ranchi (formerly part of Bihar) and a soldier in the Indian army, died at the age of 29 during the Bangladesh Liberation War of 1971. He was posthumously awarded the Param Veer Chakra, India's highest award for bravery.
Several members of the armed forces, judiciary, and civilians including Patna High Court acting Chief Justice Chandramauli Kumar Prasad, Padmashree recipient Dr. Gopal Prasad, and Brigadier B. N. Upadhyaya attended the function.
