NBCC Struggles to Save its Reputation

Patna: April 10, 2008

Following threats of criminal lawsuit and massive backlash in the media, the National Building Construction Corporation (NBCC), the firm responsible for building drainage in Kankarbagh in Patna with sub-standard materials, commenced re-building the drainage from scratch, this time hopefully with materials that would last 'a little longer' than the last time.

Interestingly, the workers did most of the demolition using their bare hands – a testament to the NBCC's poor workmanship and its evident attempt to swindle the state.

In its attempt to salvage its fractured reputation, senior officials of the NBCC are closely monitoring the re-building of the drainage system and most overseers attached with the project previously have been removed.

Rakesh Marya, a senior NBCC official, on Thursday, visited the construction site to get a first hand experience into the controversy. Sources said the company has taken strict actions against the previous Project Manager Radha Krishnan in a fallout of the drainage disaster in Kankarbagh.
