Film Festival Comes to an End
Patna: April 11, 2008
The week-long Patna Film Festival 2008 ended on Friday with several dignitaries including Bihar Governor R. S. Gavai and noted film-maker Prakash Jha talking about the role of Indian films in bringing people from different states together while carving out its own niche in the world of entertainment.
Both Gavai and Jha, at the concluding event held at the Sri Krishna Memorial Hall, emphasized the need for such events in different states and appealed to the people to make them successful by showing their support and enthusiasm with an eye on promoting harmony and regional goodwill.
Others who spoke on the occasion included State Information and Public Relations Minister Arjun Rai, critically acclaimed star of Black and White Anurag Sinha, senior IAS officer and former Director of Film and Television Institute of India, Pune, Tripurari Sharan, and Bihar Cine Society chairperson R. N. Das.
Sharan, however, lamented the growing vulgarity in many Bhojpuri films saying cheapness and raunchy subjects as well as their titillating titles made it very difficult for decent people to go see the movies with family members.
