Some Join, Some Don't

Patna: April 15, 2008

The man to replace the Urban Development Minister Ashwini Kumar Choubey, Bhola Singh, after assuming charge of his department on Tuesday, promised to continue the good work started by his predecessor while saying he would ensure the people of Patna did not have to go through the mess that they go through each Monsoon.

"I am committed to changing the face of Patna and will continue to fulfill the unfinished works of Mr. Choubey," Singh said adding Patna once was the capital of the nation and he takes it as a personal challenge to restore the past beauty of the state capital.

Meanwhile, a sulking Choubey, citing weddings in the family, stayed away from joining the PHED department on Tuesday.

Former Road Construction Minister Nand Kishore Yadav, however, chose not to play hardball and officially joined the Health Ministry without further fuss.

Other Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders and ex-ministers, including former Health Minister Chandramohan Rai and Janardan Singh Sigriwal, the ex-Sports, Art & Culture Minister, on the other hand, continued their demand for the removal of Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi and party state president Radha Mohan Singh saying they would take up the issue with the party high command in New Delhi for using, abusing, and then discarding loyal party leaders.

BJP state affairs coordinator Kalraj Mishra, however, played down the brewing rebel in the party.
