COMFED to Double Milk Collection by 2012

At a press conference at Bihar Information Bhawan in Patna on Wednesday, officials of Bihar State Cooperative Milk Producers Federation (COMFED) said that by 2012, the total collection of milk per day in Bihar would rise from the current 6 lakh kilogram to 12 lakh kg per day due to various programs put in place by the Federation.
With new dairy plants coming up in Dehri, Purnia, and Mohania and a number of training programs already in place, this goal is quite attainable and even surpassed, said the COMFED managing director Atish Chandra.
Chandra also informed that the Federation would celebrate its 25th anniversary at Sri Krishna Memorial Hall in Patna on April 18-19 that would be inaugurated by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar.
Sudhir Kumar Singh, the Patna Dairy Project managing director said during the silver jubilee celebrations, awards would be given to the best milk producing cooperatives in the state and a seminar would also be organized to exchange ideas on how to further improve milk scenario in Bihar.
A new product by the Sudha Dairy would also be launched by Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi during the two-day celebration, Singh said.
