Patna: April 17, 2008
Communist Party of India activists in Patna on Thursday took out a rally against rising prices in the nation and squatted on the railway tracks at Patna Junction disrupting train traffic for more than three hours.
After a minor scuffle, the Railway Protection Force (RPF) and the Government Railway Police (GRP) officials managed to move them from the tracks while also arresting more than 50 rowdy and disruptive protestors.
They were all released later at their own cognizance.
The rally began at Gandhi Maidan and after passing through Frazer Road and Dak Bungalow crossing, and bringing the traffic to a grinding halt in the process, arrived at Patna Junction where they sat on the tracks in front of the Brahmaputra Mail and Patna-Pune Express while chanting anti-UPA slogans.
