Photo by Shashi UttamArun Kumar Sinha, the Patna Central legislator, while attending an AIDS awareness program in Patna on Friday stressed the need for rehabilitation of the AIDS victims saying it was the duty of the government to provide them proper medical care and help them rehabilitate in the society.

The three-day event has been jointly organized by the Regional AIDS Training and Network and the AIDS Unit of the World Health Organization at the SCADA Center under the leadership of AIDS specialist Dr. Diwakar Tejaswi.

Sinha emphasized the need for removing the stigma attached with AIDS and raising the awareness about the disease for proper rehabilitation of the patients. He also talked about the importance of abstinence and safe sex to keep spreading of AIDS at bay.

Dr. Tejaswi also talked about the rights of AIDS patients.

"The patients should be encouraged to be mentally and socially strong. With proper training and medical treatment, they can be a part of a strong social network," he said.

Over 50 representatives from various medical and social organizations are participating in the event, Dr. Tejaswi said.
