COMPFED Celebrates Silver Jubilee

Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, while inaugurating the 25th anniversary of the foundation of Bihar State Cooperative Milk Producers Federation (COMPFED) at the Sri Krishna Memorial Hall in Patna on Friday, said dairy and agriculture sector would dramatically change the face of Bihar in next four years as the state plans to spend over Rs. 6,000 crore on dairy, fishery, and agriculture in the state.
"With social justice, we are also committed to bringing massive development in the state so people of Bihar no longer have to go outside the state to seek their livelihoods," Kumar said while also releasing a memento on the occasion.
Lauding the success of the COMPFED, the Chief Minister said the cooperative would double its milk deposit in next five years. He also talked about insurance by the Unit Trust of India up to Rs. 1 lakh for all milk producers in the state.
Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi, prior to leaving for Delhi, also attended the Silver Jubilee event and commended the role of COMPFED for making the Sudha Dairy a national brand name.
Cooperative Minister Giriraj Singh, Urban Development Minister Bhola Singh, Animal Husbandry Minister Ram Narain Mandal, and COMPFED Managing Director Atish Chandra were also among many attendees.
