No Change in Bihar Leadership: Kalraj Mishra
Patna: April 24, 2008
Kalraj Mishra, the Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) general secretary and party in-charge of Bihar, after holding meetings with disgruntled party leaders in Patna on Thursday ruled out any change in Bihar leadership saying the issues that are dividing the party would be settled shortly behind the closed doors.
Asking them to restrain their emotional outbursts, Mishra said the party high command would not entertain any more demand of change in leadership in Bihar.
"Modi (Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi) is not going anywhere and neither does the state president Radha Mohan Singh. Everyone just needs to cool down and let the things take their own course," he said.
Mishra, however, added that he would let the party senior leaders know the sentiments among the dissidents and they would make any decision that is in the interest of the party.
As reported before, a number of BJP leaders have been demanding the heads of Modi and Singh for conspiring with the Janata Dal (U) in its decision to remove their leaders from the Cabinet.
Earlier, as Mishra arrived at the BJP headquarters in Patna on Thursday to diffuse the situation, he was greeted with anti-Modi and anti-Singh slogans by disorderly supporters of Janardan Singh Sigriwal and Chandramohan Rai.
Mishra held meeting with them behind the closed door and after several hours of negotiation, he was able to placate the dissidents saying he would apprise senior party leader L. K. Advani and party president Rajnath Singh of their sentiments.
