Fire at Shoe Shop in Kadam Kuan. Photo by Shashi UttamA late night fire in a shoe shop on Bari Path under Kadam Kuan police station on Friday morning left the building badly charred while destroying shoes, chappals, and furniture to the tune of over Rs. 1 lakh, the police said.

The fire, the cause of which remains under investigation, started at around 3:00 am on Friday morning.

After battling the blazes for nearly an hour, the firemen managed to douse the flame while also preventing it from spreading to other shops in the area.

Mohammed Faroukh Ahmed, the owner of the shop, has filed a case of arson saying he suspected a few people in the case who could have set the shop on fire because of business rivalry.

An investigation is on, officials said.
