Modi, Radha Mohan Singh Lobby in Delhi

Patna: April 25, 2008

Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi and state chief Radha Mohan Singh, following less than flattering report by the state in-charge Kalraj Mishra to the party high command, left for Delhi to face the music in the aftermath of political uproar caused by the recent juggling of the state Cabinet.

Sources said Mishra, after his failed attempt to placate the brewing rebel within the state party leaders, turned in his report that puts blame squarely on Modi and Singh for not seeing through the political implications prior to the reshuffle in the Nitish-led NDA ministry in Bihar.

While there are words of Singh to be projected as the fall guy, dissident leaders have made it clear that nothing would change their mind until Modi himself is shown the door – a demand not being entertained by the powers that be like L. K. Advani and other senior leaders fearing it would send wrong signals to the voters as well as the opposition parties.

With elections in Karnataka where BJP, like in Bihar, is a partner of Janata Dal (U), right around the corner, any action against Modi or Singh is likely to be delayed, party sources said.

Even as Modi continues to lobby in Delhi to save his job, other disgruntled leaders like Nandkishore Yadav and Rameshwar Chaurasia have also left for the Capital to neutralize the Deputy Chief Minister.
