Photo by Shashi UttamAt a function organized by the Patna District Adarsh Chaurasia Sabha at the house of State legislator Ganga Prasad on Sunday, 11 men were united in wedlock with 11 women of their own community setting an example of dowry-less wedding.

The men and women came from various districts including Khagaria, Samastipur, Patna, and Hajipur. Following some revelry, a community wedding was performed that brought the couples together in the presence of several guests.

Deepak Kumar Chaurasia, the president of the organization, talked about the evils of dowry and administered vows to all the newly-weds to continue to speak out against the dowry system that has destroyed hundreds of thousands of families in the state, many a times with fatal consequences.
