Monazir Threatens to Blow Whistle on the Government

Patna: April 27, 2008

Former Building Construction Minister Monazir Hasan stepped up his anti-NDA rhetoric on Sunday threatening to 'spill beans' on other NDA ministers saying the government was trying to malign him and other sacked ministers and if needed, he would not hesitate in unmasking the 'real corrupt leaders'.

"Some senior leaders in the NDA government in Bihar are insinuating that I, and other ministers who were recently removed from the Cabinet, were the victims of our 'corrupt behavior and practices'. All I can say is that they better not force me to open my mouth because once I start talking, many secrets would become public," a feisty Hasan said.

Earlier last week Janata Dal (U) activists in Patna burnt the effigy of Hasan accusing him of engaging him in corrupt practices and holding anti-NDA meetings in the guise of mobilizing the minority community.

"Since my ouster from the Bihar government, some people in the NDA have been talking nonsense about me while trying to project me as a corrupt minister in a concerted attempt to smear my image. This will not be tolerated and if push comes to shove, I will not hesitate in exposing others in the government," the former minister said.

With increased talk about 'settling score' with the government, Hasan's ouster from the party cannot be ruled out, said a senior JD-U leader.
