War Veteran Seeks CM's Help in Evicting Rogue Tenant
Patna: April 28, 2008
Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, at the Janata Durbar in Patna on Monday, directed the officials to investigate the claims of World War II veteran Brigadier Laxman Nandkuliar who said his tenant of several years was demanding Rs. 25 lakh for vacating his house.
Brigadier Nandkuliar said he had been going from pillar to post to get his flat in New Pataliputra Colony vacated but the tenant refuses to comply by the lease agreement and instead had been demanding Rs. 25 lakh as his price to leave the premises.
Threatening to turn in his medals earned for his gallantry in a number of wars, Brigadier Nandkuliar who moves around in a wheelchair, said after all of his attempts to evict his tenant failed, he came to the Janata Durbar in the hope of getting justice.
The Chief Minister, while saying the matter should be decided in a court of law, directed the IG (Headquarters) to probe the case and see if anything could be done to avoid a long legal proceeding.
