Bihar Governor R. L. Bhatia, in Patna on Saturday, during his visit to the state's historical Khuda Baksh Library, inaugurated the online catalogue of the books, manuscripts, and periodicals housed in the institute saying the facility was a huge step in the age of Internet and globalization.

"With the online cataloging of the rare books and manuscripts in the library, students, historians, and academicians around the world would be able to take full advantage of it without requiring personal visit to the library," Governor Bhatia said.

Speaking at the seminar to discuss ideas promoted by Mahatma Gandhi, the Governor said that today, when the rest of the world was talking about acquiring more nuclear abilities and weapons of destruction, Mahatma Gandhi's idea of non-violence and truth was even more relevant than ever before.

Noted historian and the chairperson of the Indian Council of Historical Research Prof. S. Bhattacharya said Gandhi, in his book Hind Swaraj, drew contrast between the Western culture and the eastern philosophy saying Gandhi's ideas were not based on Hindus or Muslims but on one Indian nation made up of people from various background, culture, and beliefs.

"He never talks in terms of Hindus or Muslims; he saw India as one nation living in perfect unity among diversity. This is a huge point that the leaders of today must not forget," Prof. Bhattacharya said.
