9,000 Cops to be Hired Soon; CM Holds Meeting with Top Officials

Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, at a high-level meeting of Bihar's top law-enforcement officials in Patna on Saturday, resolved to fill more than 9,000 positions in the state police and bring an end to the backlog in the reserved seats including those reserved for the women.
Applications for these posts would be invited through advertisements in Bihar newspapers in next few days, Kumar informed adding the hiring process would be completed in two phases with the first phase to be completed in next four months.
"Nearly 6,000 posts meant for women and men from backward, extreme-backward classes, and Scheduled Castes are vacant since last several years and would be filled before the end of this year," Additional Director General (ADG) of Police (Law and Order) Anil Kumar Sinha said following the meeting.
The meeting was also attended by the Chief Secretary, Home and Finance Secretary, Law Secretary, the newly-appointed Director General of Police (DGP) D. N. Gautam, ADG (Headquarters), ADG (BMP), and a number of IGs.
