Patna: Aug. 6, 2008

Gautam Barua, the Acting Director of the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Patna, a day before the institute's grand opening on Wednesday, said the Patna IIT would begin imparting education from Thursday and facilities that are available at other IITs, would be offered at the Patna campus as well.

Barua, who was addressing at the orientation session of the first batch of Patna IIT, said all the faculty members had arrived in Patna and were eager to get into the groove to begin a new chapter in their lives.

Urging the students to maintain the decorum and a sense of pride that the IIT'ians are well known for, Barua said the students need not worry about the quality of education as the teachers were highly-qualified and had extensive experience in teaching at other IITs.

Following the orientation, the students headed for registration that went on till the end of the day.
