Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi, while inaugurating the two-day state level 'Planning-cum-Guidance Fair – 2008' at the S. K. Memorial Hall in Patna on Friday, said the NDA government in Bihar, in a short period of less than 3 years, had successfully changed the academic scenario in the state by opening a number of new educational institutes offering a smorgasbord of options for those who want to acquire quality education.
"The government is already working on a new technical education policy for the state that would act as a blueprint to the development of technical institutes in Bihar while offering more professional, job-oriented courses to reflect the changing educational needs of the age.
Modi further said that 9 new Indian Technical Institutes (ITI) in Bihar would start functioning from next month and within next three years; each district would have one such ITI to provide quality education to the local people.
The National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) would start operating from next month also accommodating 150 students in its first batch, the Deputy Chief Minister said.
The event was attended by hundreds of youths from across the state hoping to strike a meeting with the representatives of over two dozen companies offering more than 2,000 jobs to qualified candidates.
