Fair Price Dealers Now Taking Center Stage in Protest Saga
Patna: Aug. 9, 2008
If it is not for one thing in Bihar, it is for another! Political activists under the banner of Fair Price Dealers' Association (FPDA) of Bihar, on Saturday, took out a protest march from the Income Tax roundabout on Bailey Road to the Kargil Chowk near Gandhi Maidan in Patna to press for their demand of according the government employees status for all shop-owners under the FPDA umbrella.
The protestors said they would continue to intensify their stir if their demands were not met immediately starting with a dharna at the Income Tax roundabout.
Association representative Manoj Kumar, while talking to the reporters, took pride in the fact that the 9-day old agitation in Bihar involving over 45,000 Fair Price dealers had completely disrupted the public distribution system in the state and things would only get worse when the shop-owners refuse to pick up food-grains and kerosene in next few weeks.
