Paswan Lists his Accomplishments
Patna City: Aug. 18, 2008
Union Minister and Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) president Ram Vilas Paswan, while inaugurating a free medical camp in Patna City on Monday, outlined his political plan for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections saying his party would contest all the seats in Bihar and he has already announced the names of the candidates.
Trying to set him apart from his political opponents, chiefly the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) president and Railway Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav and Janata Dal (U) leader and Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, Paswan, who is seen by many as a ruthless opportunist, said that unlike others who were obsessed with their desire to form the government, he, on the other hand, was concerned with building the nation.
"I come from a poor family and I am one of the few politicians who is not tainted by any kind of scandal. I am asking you to extend your support to me and my party to keep the prestige and glory of Bihar intact and to bring all-round development in the state," the LJP leader said.
Paswan also patted his own back saying it was he who made 57,000 railway employees' job permanent, opened the headquarters of the East-Central Railways in Hajipur, and as the Information and Broadcasting Minister, it was he who made it possible for everyone to have cell phones in their pockets.
"Pharmaceutical companies today are competing with each other to provide low-cost drugs to all and that it only due to my efforts. Even the entire Steel Ministry was on the brink of bankruptcy but, because of my hard works, today it has registered a profit of Rs. 20,000 crore without having to raise the price of steel," Paswan said.
Party leaders including Surajbhan Singh, who was recently convicted of committing murder; Ranjan Yadav, Nagina Devi, and Sanjay Singh were also present on the occasion.
